Zion I are alive ya’ll. Amp Live put out a free beat tape and I’m still playing it. So, the emcee-half of Zion I, Zumbi, decided to drop his own music. He’s quite the competitor, a la, Rocky 3, “I pity the fool, and I will destroy any man who tries to take what I got!” Versus takes Flying Lotus, Wiz Khalifa, Bassnectar, Little Dragon and several other fresh songs and gives them a new lyrical spin. Sounds a lot like any other mixtape without original production, huh? Maybe it is. Though, the cuts seem to take on a new life with Zumbi’s interpretation of how they should sound. Versus is a knockout. It’s a punch to the gut. It’s a shiner on the forehead of a rap game that’s seeing R.E.D. Zing!
