North Carolina producer L’Orange takes his turn at remixing Zilla Rocca’s “Full Spectrum 2”, with features from Has-Lo and Open Mike Eagle. Previous incarnations of this track were produced by Potholes favorites Dr. Quandary and Man Mantis, so there’s some big shoes to fill here for the beatsmith, but L’Orange is nothing if not a slick, studious producer and the end result absolutely bangs. Opening and closing with 1940’s era strings, perhaps a nod to Zilla Rocca’s “noir-hop” aesthetic, and the main portion has thick, warm bass over an expertly sliced boom-bap beat. The sampled hook is haunting, and the verses still slay- there may be nearly countless versions of this track floating around, but so far every producer to step up on it has done killer work, and L’Orange definitely does “Full Specrum 2” justice.
