Since hearing Zeroh’s G7 University project earlier this year after sleeping on it for some time, I have been pretty much stuck on whatever he releases next. His abstract approach definitely might not be for everyone, but if you’re a fan of otherworldly, forward-thinking boom-bap with a touch of electronic noise — you need to hear Zeroh’s work. In particular, you should check out his latest mixtape, awfulalterations. It features the L.A.-based rapper-producer sticking to the rhymes as he has jacked beats from a slew of our favorites, from J Dilla to Flying Lotus to Georgia Anne Muldrow. Zeroh doesn’t just spit over the beats, though. He has messed with them to the point some might not be recognizable.
