Some of y’all might know Young L as one-fourth of the Bay Area’s the Pack, which also consists of the Based God himself, Lil B. But if you find yourself unable to get down with their super-ignant hyphy-leaning jams, then chances are you’re more likely to dig Young L’s more reflective, boom bap-oriented work. At least, I know that I prefer his more introspective material, such as his latest mixtape, As I Float: The Great John Nash. It pairs up thoughtful lyricism and, awesomely, Imogen Heap-sampling beats for one of the more intriguing projects I’ve heard this year (thus far, of course). Don’t sleep on this one, y’all, and don’t judge Young L based (hah) on his material with the Pack. [via]

Had this album for less than a week, listened to it a hundred times and its fucking AMAZING. Surprisingly deep lyrics (and not a bad flow) for someone who’s always talked about as being such a bad rapper and the beats are sublime.
been meaning to listen to this guy for like a year haha. here’s my chance.
