Bronx rapper YC The Cynic approached me with the Good Morning, Midnight EP with the note that he was nervous about its release. Why? Because it’s not just a new project. This EP represents a marked turn in style for the gifted young spitter, who showcases his other vocal talents across its eight tracks.
I mean, he does straight-up kill it rhyming, like on middle-finger-to-everyone anthem “Driver’s Seat”. But then he closes out the EP with an update on Green Day classic “Brain Stew”.
