WELL$ – “State Of Ecstasy PT 2”

I don’t know what it is about tracks that fail to attach to the bodies of work they were initially intended to be a part of, but they always seem to entice as much as those that manage to make the cut. Perhaps it has something to do with the exciting idiosyncrasies inherent to them, or the fact that the efforts are often utilized as a sort of creative breeding ground for those that inevitably ensue, but either way, there’s something oddly intriguing about these “throwaways” that artists unashamedly tend to share.

WELL$‘ “State Of Ecstasy PT 2” is one of these efforts. Having failed to keep pace with other content appearing on forthcoming project, MTSYD: The Revenge Of The African Booty Scratcher (read that name again), the Charlotte spitter decided to release the track as a sort of of anticipatory measure (though, as we will see, it doubles fantastically as its own standout listen). The track utilizes a dark and daunting NYC vibe, and WELL$ flows atop the audio grit with some clever rhymes contained by a confident delivery. It’s a solid listen, and leaves us with high expectations for the aforementioned project of his.
