If you are like me, summer can’t come soon enough. Whenever Wavves starts prepping a new album, you know the warmer months are that much closer. His new album will be called Afraid Of Heights, a project that is already shaping up to be a true indie summer anthem. We already heard the hard-hitting “Sail To The Sun“, but “Demon To Lean On” takes us even deeper into the end of the ’90s. Driven by a powerful guitar riff, I could totally see this track popping up on my ’90s rock Pandora playlist. [via]
The album is also said to feature Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley. Wavves will be setting out on a pretty lengthy tour this summer, too. Tour dates can be viewed below. Afraid Of Heights drops March 26 via Mom + Pop. Read a statement from Wavves frontman Williams on the inspiration for the album:
“The general theme of the record is depression and anxiety, being death-obsessed and paranoid of impending doom. I feel like the narration is almost schizophrenic if you listen front to back; every word is important, even the constant contradictions and lack of self-worth. That’s all a part of this record-questioning everything not because I’m curious, but because I’m paranoid.”
