Back in 2002, Kanye West was still about two years away from releasing his debut album, The College Dropout, and beginning to establish himself as a producer. He was also still living in Chicago and visiting his favorite barbershop, which we see here in this new video liberated by Coodie & Chike.
The directorial duo actually put together his first music video, “Through the Wire”, and several after that, and now they’re best known for their work with rising artists as part of Creative Control. Maybe they were feeling nostalgic or maybe they just wanted the rest of the world to see this, but whatever their reason, I’m glad they liberated this footage. Why? Because it’s making me really want to play The College Dropout.
