Hip-hop seems to be going through its heartbreak existentialist period. In one way or another, rappers are all speaking to a similar experience of love lost, and the consequences of being emotionally vulnerable. Gowe throw his hat into the ring with his new single, “Lavender.” The song tracks the murky waters of transitioning from friends to lovers and the hurt that comes once the relationship is over. Just like the song, the video is sad without being sappy. “Lavender” nicely portrays the feeling of wanting what you use to have back, though you’re unable to recapture those same feelings and emotions. “Lavender” is the first single off of Gowe’s sophomore album, Music Beautiful.
