British import FKA twigs released one of the best albums of 2014 with her debut LP1. She recently released the visuals for her latest single “Pendulum”. Being a former dancer is always a consistent theme in her videos, but with “Pendulum” there’s images of bondage intertwined with her dancing, and a certain sexual vulnerability that comes across through out.
With so many videos in R&B and hip-hop that objectify the women regularly for the consumption of male entertainment, it’s refreshing to see a female artist take agency with her body and the way she’s portrayed through her music. The bondage in the video feels like a metaphor for that same objectification. Her new video is an absolute must-watch.
