The current crop of electronic producers have taken a serious liking to R&B singers of times past. With ’90s R&B vocals chopped, layered, and remixed to a ridiculous extent by now, it’s a wonder more producers haven’t begun to work with Erykah Badu (Thanks, FlyLo). At Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival over the weekend the worlds of the legendary songstress and SBTRKT collided in the form of “Appletree” sung over the smash collaboration “Wildfire”, which first featured Little Dragon vocalist Yukimi Nagano.
