As we all wait patiently for Erykah Badu to release her next album—or even just a single…please?—she’s been having fun taking on some other, somewhat-musically related tasks. In addition to her hilarious, family-oriented Vine account, she has apparently taken to the streets of New York (namely, Times Square) to do an experiment of sorts. In this newly released video, she can be seen performing in NYC as an anonymous busker just trying to make some money. And after wailing her heart out for a few minutes, she eventually receives some cash from a passer-by that she hints at using to buy some pizza or frozen yogurt.
Here’s what she had to say about her “performance”:
In no way is this video a reflection of my feelings about homeless or unfortunate families nor individuals who have no other means of survival in our world. Tho each individual set of circumstances is unique, We must all do our share in OUR WORLD.
Instead this short film was shot w/ my iPhone and edited in iMovie for entertainment purposes only and serves as a personal ‘hustle’ experiment for me.
