Here at Potholes, De La Soul means an awful lot to us. Besides the obvious reference, a lot of their ideology has been embodied in our own mission statement. Their debut album 3 Feet High & Rising was an incredibly important album for sample-based hip-hop and the culture as a whole. To help us celebrate its pure genius, the crew has uncovered the original video press kid from 1989. With cameos from DMC, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Red Alert and more, it was pretty clear that even the time period’s best MCs were excited about De La Soul’s music.
