I am not sure when the last time I saw a real freestyle. You know, a rap verse that wasn’t written beforehand. Anyway, Danny Brown, Childish Gambino and Schoolboy Q held a little cypher during their show in Central Park last night, complete with a live band behind them that was dropping some ultra-funky beats. You can skip the second verse if you want, although it actually wasn’t that bad, and it’s the part where the crowd goes the craziest for Gambino. Thankfully he doesn’t destroy this performance with weak chuckles and corny adlibs.
