For their latest Rhythm Roulette feature, Mass Appeal took a trip to Detroit to meet up with Motor City producer Apollo Brown. He took them on a trip to a local record store where he started the beat-making game—pick three records at random while blindfolded and create a new beat from scratch. Although he makes it clear that he feels he got three of the worst LPs in history, Brown was still able to churn out a nice lil’ head-nodder by the end. And for those wondering, apparently he made the instrumental through chopping samples up in Cool Edit ’97, which may give some of y’all a strong dose of nostalgia. Everyone else, just enjoy watching a master at work, even if the master isn’t particularly happy at the end, ha.
