Admittedly, I didn’t tune into the BET Awards until the final minutes to catch the Chris Lighty performance tribute. Kicking things off with A Tribe Called Quest and “Award Tour”, I knew this was going to be one of the brighter moments in the show. Especially after Rick Ross landed on stage without a shirt. Missy Elliott even made it to the show, which was an incredible surprise to say the least. Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe and 50 Cent also played notable tracks from their career, helping to show just how influential Lighty was to the development of so many great artists in hip-hop.
