Taking a break from his usual Odd Future operations, Tyler, the Creator unveils the visuals to a project of a different sort today. Apparently Tyler was so touched by a song her heard, that he agreed to write and direct the accompanying music video. He isn’t saying who the song is by, but it is called “Glowing”. And, yes, it is very touching. And you will quickly notice the video is equally as sentimental.
Watch the video below. [via]

A very touching video, the band made me think of the beatles honestly (with the lead singer sounding much like lennon to my ears.) Overall the theme must be that even when the world is going to shit around you, love conquers all. Just watching this though really goes to show how promising of a director Tyler is. I’m really hoping to see if he gets involved in some silver screen cinema because this is beautiful.
I’d say this song is anything but boring. But nonetheless – when you have a song that would turn the ears of many and, due to the people involved would essentially promote itself, not mentioning the band name creates the buzz needed to propel the band further than if the name was mentioned. In my opinion, It’s a good song and good marketing strategy. I love the mention of statues made of sand that somehow withstand thousands of years and remain hand in hand. You can’t deny that the wordplay an allegory used in the lyrics is pretty damn good, and of course far superior to most songs getting this much press. The chord progressions have been used before, but this one does a good job of using those classic progressions with classic layering techniques while maintiaining an original structure overall. Feel free to reply with “this shyt suxxx” all you want, though.
Why not mention the band, Tyler? Don’t they deserve a little recognition? Probably just a publicity stunt, but that song was pretty boring regardless…
Reminds me of the band fun.
