Wally Left lacks the towering presence amongst his hip-hop peers that one basketball legend, Wilt Chamberlain, enjoyed amongst his; Left’s lax deliveries certainly do not compare to the refreshing taste that Welch’s juices reliably offer.
And yet, something about this east coast-bred, west-coast-inspired rapper retains my interest. “Welch Chamberlain”, a poorly mixed record and the artist’s most recent effort, survives off of the strength of its groovy, jazz-styled backdrop (crafted by producer Rome Clientel) and Wally’s impressive wordings. Left has potential; here’s to hoping that he works to capitalize and grow.
