NC rapper Wally Left waxes nostalgic on “Lovers & Homies/Hypnotize”, a single from his upcoming World Series EP due February 17.

This new song proposes a concept that has been treaded over many a time — pining for a lost love — but Wally’s neurotic wordplay and the backdrop of childhood infatuation make this as authentic and sweet as puppy love might seem. It also helps that Cool Kids member Chuck Inglish produced the track, giving it a chill drum break and a flurry of cool synths to invoke that tender feeling while allowing Wally’s words to retain their awkward, pubsescent timbre.

There’s also the track bookend “Hypnotize” to consider, featuring a mature rhymer being decidedly short with his boo-thang. As a package, it displays the shortcomings one might have with love: in the mind, its all good feelings and fun times, but the day to day grind might prove otherwise.
