Underrated Los Angeles rapper Vince Staples has dropped some heat with go-to producer Michael Uzowuru over the past few years. And while I’m sure they have more material coming, it appears that the MC has teamed with producer Larry Fisherman aka Mac Miller for his new project. It’s a mixtape called Stolen Youth and it’s off to a strong start with “Guns & Roses”. Miller’s beat is fairly simple and loop heavy, though the drum changes and building layers are notable. It’s a fitting setting for Staples’ contemplative rhymes that tell a tale of a rough neighborhood and its victims.

the original loop and drums are good, but most of the added layers on the beat are pretty corny
