Spit Gold Under an Empire is a new documentary that takes a look at the underground hip-hop scene in New York City. Its trailer features clips and words from acts like the Underachievers, Angel Haze, and Pro Era spitters CJ Fly and Kirk Knight. They all discuss what it’s like coming up in NYC, how the scene has shifted, and how they’re fitting into it. The film looks pretty damn amazing, though that should come as no surprise given Emily Kai Bock directed it. She also directed Grimes’ gorgeous video for “Oblivion“. [via]
