In the second part of their appearance on Complex TV’s Combat Jack Show, El-P and Killer Mike dive into the problems of the modern rap radio station. In particular, El speaks on the whole minor league/major league concept that Hot 97’s Ebro mentioned last year, which caused a minor uproar among hip-hop listeners. The Brooklyn rapper-producer asks why we should even have DJs at radio stations if the program directors already know who should be played on the air. Mike then questions why some heads haven’t gotten together to start their own all-rap radio channel that plays music from the past 30 years or so and only that. Hmm, sounds like he could be onto something.
