Video: Dirty Projectors Cover Usher’s “Climax”

dirty-projectors-usherWhen Usher isn’t whining, he’s great. Like on one of 2012’s best tracks, the Diplo-produced “Climax“. Unfortunately, we don’t get too many songs like that from Mr. Raymond anymore, so we’ll just have to find solace in “Climax” and, you know, this stellar cover by Dirty Projectors. I could go on and on about how they do the song justice and then some, but you should just hit play below and enjoy.

  1. fantastic cover

  2. I like it, but part of what makes the song special is the way the synths and Usher’s vocal dance between stillness and motion, never fully committing to a crescendo or build. It’s purposefully an anticlimactic song, that’s where the power and tension come from. Your version, while really great on a technical level, kinda fails to capture that aspect of the song. It’s still nice, but it pulls it into more typical R&B territory

  3. hey! we’re a Chicago band and cover “Climax” live – 8 musicians, no synths. whatchuthink? into it? 🙂
