As is the case with most new Odd Future-related material, the video for Tyler, The Creator‘s “Tamale” hit the web at midnight EST last night. And now I’m watching it in the morning and trying to figure exactly what the hell is going on here. Of course, a ridiculous video is to be expected given the content of “Tamale”, an off-the-walls, don’t-give-a-f-ck banger off this year’s still-growing-on-me Wolf. There are giant cats and giant women alike, nods to the criticisms of Odd Future’s lyrics, a pixelated portion presented almost as a protest, and, unexpectedly, a cut into the more meditative “Answer” at the end. Pharrell even shows up at the point to play the drums while Tyler airs out his grievances.
