Tyler, The Creator & Flying Lotus’ Low End Theory Show Canceled By L.A. Police

tyler-the-creator-low-endLast night, Tyler, the Creator and Flying Lotus (under his Captain Murphy moniker) were set to perform at Los Angeles’ Low End Theory. But when word got out about the show, you just know that the venue was going to get packed. And get packed it did, with so many people showing up that the bouncer had to turn people away before the show started.

According to Spin, Low End promoters usually can’t announce that someone of FlyLo’s stature is showing up until the day of given the 140-person capacity. But the announcement made the rounds last week and people were even sleeping in front of the venue to make sure they got in. Apparently some goobers rushed the doors and sh-t just got out of control. Eventually police (including a helicopter) were called to the scene and Tyler himself tried to calm everyone down (see the above photo). It was meant to serve as a pre-Odd Future Carnival show—that event takes place next month—but clearly things didn’t work out.

Tyler hopped on his always-colorful Twitter account to address everyone:

Bummer. Flying Lotus responded to the news:

I understand the appeal of the Low End Theory as a venue they’re emotionally connected to but Flylo and friends have to find a new venue. One where way more people can fit. I remember at Flying Lotus’s show at Terminal 5 an NYC it got PACKED in the front with the same type of crowd but the back was not half as bad. I started at the front and it was cool to be 20ft away from Flylo and everything but DAMN it was uncomfortable. Too loud, too crazy, not worth it, especially not sober. In the back you can stretch out, dance around, etc. Honestly, I’d prefer a smaller, more chill Russ Liquid/ Thriftworks/ Insightful / Soulection/ Team Supreme kind of show in a small venue to actually enjoy the music than a packed house just to see Flylo and Tyler just to say I went just to ride the hype train. All love for those 2 though, just way too much hype for me.

I’m not too sure what they thought would happen lmao. They should have made this a secret show…

So you’re saying that trying to fit 20% of Los Angeles into a venue with the capacity of a small sports bar is…a bad idea? Is that the moral here?
