Trebles And Blues – From My Father [Album]

from-my-father-trebles-and-bluesAs plenty of artists and fans know well, it’s not easy (and that’s putting it lightly) to head in a new direction after dropping a stellar debut. But that’s exactly what Trebles And Blues is doing here with From My Father and we’re all the better for it. Would I have loved another jazzy affair like The Blue Note? Of course. But I was confident in the L.A. producer after hearing the concept behind his new album, which centers on samples from his father’s collection of Korean music. It’s got some jazzy elements here and there, but it’s also folk-y, funky, and, well, more than worth your time. Enjoy.

  1. I listened to this album a couple of weeks ago and of all the tracks, A King’s Embrace stuck out the most for me. It struck a cord because the intro to that song reminds me of the old school Haitian folk music that my father would play back in the day. Although the language is different, the feel is the same, authentic.

I’ve added lyrics to the track to maintain the theme of the King’s Embrace with the words and confidence that only a king would possess. Hopefully I did it justice. Check it and let me know what you think https://soundcloud.com/reyshizz/nothing-to-critique-prod-by
