Totally agree with Datahowler. This particular album cover is actually in a series of five. It’s slightly less offensive in context. And by offensive, I mean douchey.
A demonized Kanye lounging with a diplegic white devil she-beast (LOOK AT HOW IRONIC, A MULLET AND ANGEL WINGS) is obvious to the point of insult.
However, the fact that Fox News took the bait and blurred out crackhead-nightmare-Kanye’s nipples in addition to the she-beast’s T&A in their coverage of the album cover might make up for any personal subtlety qualms. Polite, diabolical, de-contaminating the world of cartoon nipples. Fox News.
+1 the Surfer Blood/indie covers comment. No Age, Ratatat, Toro y Moi, Superchunk > Surfer Blood imo.
I also loved the Janelle Monae album cover. Girl is so beyond both musically and visually it’s unreal.
Not seeing the big to-do about the Curren$y album cover, but to each his/her own.
I almost peed myself with happiness when I saw the Klaxons’ cover. Eat your heart out, Tron: Legacy.
I agree with Badu, SAS, FlyLo, and maybe Devo. I don’t even know how Surfer Blood got on here. This is a design travesty especially with that shitty ass type and don’t even get me started on Kanye.
I really enjoyed a lot of indie covers this year. Indie music has really been killing album artwork.
