Theophilus London remains an interesting case study to me, at least in terms of having a “traditional” music career. Sure, plenty of other newer artists have kept the official releases to a minimum while focusing on free efforts and tours. But it seems like London has been around too long to not have an official album out, aside from the digital-only This Charming Man. Here, he’s prepped yet another single with “Flying Overseas”, his first “official” cut since last year’s “Humdrum Town”. On this track, he’s joined by complementary vocals from Solange Knowles and Devonte Hynes (better known as Lightspeed Champion) for a breezy, tropical romp. Perhaps it’s the fact I just listened to the icy Gas Mask LP, but “Flying Overseas” is just what I needed on this dreary November afternoon.
