The Weeknd & XO Sign To Universal Republic

It was only a matter of time before a major swooped up the Weeknd and the XO movement, as we hear today that the acclaimed R&B artist has penned a deal with Universal Republic. The label is known for putting out everything from Mayer Hawthorne to Gotye, proving their ability to take indie-centric artists to the next level. The Weeknd plans on dropping Trilogy as his first project on the label, which will include House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, along with some new and unreleased material. Of course, we’d prefer to hear an entirely new album from Abel Tesfaye, but a proper release of those stunning projects will hold us over until that day comes.
