rundown copy The Weekly Rundown (Oct 5 12th)

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and Marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.

  1. Shyne to be released from prison and possibly deported. Lookout Diddy, Shyne is coming home. The real question is will he deported back to Belize or not.  I don’t like the way P. Diddy did Shyne with different lawyers © Nas
  2. The Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch feels ‘hopeful’ about cancer treatment. After a year full of deaths, we’re happy to report some good news from the Beastie Boys. We’re hoping for a speedy recovery.
  3. Jay-Z wins MTV’s Hottest MC of the year, Eminem not included on the top 10 list. MTV sucks, ’nuff said. Seriously, there’s nothing else to say about this without stooping to MTV’s level of shittiness.
  4. Q-Tip’s releases a new video: “Life Is Better” and discusses upcoming projects. He will be producing for Nas, doing some remixes for Norah Jones and working on a follow up to The Renaissance. The real question is whether the Q-Tip production actually make the new Nas lp?
  5. Common, Q-Tip & Queen Latifah @ Hennessy Artistry Tour in NYC. We really wish we were in NYC to see that concert. Queen Latifah performing U.N.I.T.Y. along with a Black Thought freestyle at the end of the song…Daaaaamn!
  6. MJ sang background vocals on Jay-Z’s – “Girls, Girls, Girls” ??? Not sure about the validity of this one, but hey, it’s still pretty damn interesting – especially, if it’s real.
  7. The Foreign Exchange releases video for “I Wanna Know”. Dope video for one the best songs on the album. This one finishes up the trilogy started by the “Take Off The Blues/Valediction” video.
  8. Bilal signs with Plug Research, new album almost done. Finally, it looks like we’re getting another Bilal album. It’s about damn time. Maybe this can hold us over until a certain other talented singer hits the studio.
  9. Tweet Of The Week: This week Talib Kweli get the #1 spot; Wait in the lab with mfdoom madlib and kanye. No words. If those collaborators end up on the next Kweli album, that’s a win-win situation!
  10. Album Releases Next Tuesday:

  1. Sir Alistair says:

Can’t wait to get my hands on that Sene & Blu album.

  2. Micheal Jackson’s name is worth 30 points of publishing. He’d negotiated probably the most badass contract in major label history and his catalog was under the control of Sony at that point. It does make sense that Jay would leave his name off the track because otherwise it would have tied up the album (getting that worked out legally/contractually) AND he would have been….wait, I should be writing a post for y’all about this. MORE SOON.

  3. soulsupreme says:

@Sir Alistair That Sene & Blu album should be dope. Fashawn & Exile drops the week after!

  4. soulsupreme says:

@Justin Boland Can’t wait to read it, thanks for the intro….lol
