The Weekly Rundown (July 13-20th)

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and Marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.
- Mayer Hawthorne debut album A Strange Arrangement gets a release date and a pre-order. It’s easily the first Stones Throw release we’ve anticipated in a number of months.
- Q-Tip is working on a tell-all book called Industry Rules. The new book is supposedly autobiographical and frankly, we can’t wait to read it. “Industry rule #4080, record company people are shady” © Q-Tip
- Dave Chappelle puts on a free show in Oregon. Is he ever going to officially come back? We understand the fame and all that was bothering him. But come on, Dave, the comedy world is weak as hell without you.
- Big Boi heading to Def Jam. Maybe his solo album will finally be released now. “I’m sorry to the fans but them crackers wasn’t play fair at Jive” © Clipse
- Beastie Boys release their 1st single off their new album. Don’t look now but the Beastie Boys are rapping again, and they’ve brought Nas along with ‘em..lol
- Nicolay’s: City Lights Vol.2 drops 9/15, pre-order available. Nicolay and Phonte are returning with the second installment of City Lights. This one will feature Carlitta Durand. You may remember her from the GetBack album. September is looking mighty good for new albums.
- MJ Sells 9 Million worldwide since his passing. This further proves the fact that he really was the King of Pop. No one is doing numbers like that anymore, though it’s a shame so many are buying his records after he passed rather than before.
- Evidence signs with Rhymesayers. Turns out he didn’t sign with Kweli’s BlackSmith imprint on Warner. Can we get DOOM, Slug & Evidence on the same track??? Yes!
- Tweet of the week: KennyFresh Don’tbearapperPSA# Going forward we will select the funniest tweet of the week because in between all the networking on twitter, there is some definite comedy: If The IRS Doesn’t Get You First, A Groupie Will. #dontbearapperPSA

The Q-Tip bio will be cool and all, but the industry he’s got experience in doesn’t even exist anymore. I hope to be proven wrong, maybe he’ll keep it relevant.
The Q-Tip bio should be dope. I’m actually more interested in the Tribe Called Quest documentary that Michael Rappaport is releasing at some point. Nas is executive producing that, whatever that means.
