The Weekly Rundown (Aug. 10-17th)

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and Marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.
- We leaked the first joint from upcoming mixtape. The name is Potholes In My Blog Presents… Transmitting Live Volume One and it’s coming August 25th to a blog near you!
- Jay-Z brings Oprah to Marcy Projects, confirmed guest for show. “And the streets say Jigga can’t go back home. You know when I heard that? When I was back home.” © Hov
- Mayer Hawthorne releases video for “Maybe So, Maybe No”. A nice breezy summer video for the second single from the forthcoming album A Strange Arrangement dropping September 8th on Stones Throw records. Check out cameos from House Shoes, Rob Dyrdek, and more.
- DJ Premier is down for a new Gang Starr album. DJ Premier discusses the Slaughterhouse LP and the possibility of a new Gang Starr album.
- Murs and Slug debut first Felt 3 track. Rhymesayers leaked “Protagonists”, the first joint heard off the third installment in the Felt series. While we still don’t know who this volume is dedicated to, what we do know is that Aesop Rock is handling the beats for Vol. 3. This is just another ridiculous release aimed to drop in ’09′s final months.
- Neptunes, Q-Tip and others working On Michael Jackson remix project. As long as Akon isn’t remixing his material, amen to that.
- Drake goes legit, So Far Gone re-packaged for retail. Let’s all get excited for buying an album that was a free mixtape but now includes a new bonus cut?
- Pharoahe Monch speaks on the industry. One of our favorite emcees talks about putting all he has into his music, how his sound has changed, and even gives Blu a shout-out.
- Tweet of the week: Alchemist takes the #1 spot; “Trained Musicians: write down all the ‘producer rules’ on a piece of paper so I can wipe my ass with it.”
