The Weekly Rundown: April 13-20th

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.
- Q-Tip Noisemakers Event. Pete Rosenberg hosted his third installment of this event with the legendary Q-Tip. They discussed his early beginnings with Tribe, J Dilla, and how Busta Rhymes almost joined the group after L.O.N.S. broke up.
- Blu will record for next Roots LP! Hearing that Black Thought and Blu will spit on the same track might just be the best news we have heard in the past week. To say we, and presumably a bunch of others, are excited is a massive understatement. Great news, real talent recognizes real talent.
- Mos Def may join Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek on Rock The Bells tour. What better way to promote The Ecstatic? This rumor also works as yet another teaser of a Black Star follow-up record.
- Raekwon will finally drop OBFCL 2. Well, we know it will be released on EMI, the release date, however, is still a mystery. We’ll believe that shit when we see it .
- Little Brother to Def Jam? Phonte and 9th Wonder were quick to shut down this rumor, which carried both good and bad news. Yeah, it would be great to hear a reunited Little Brother, but chances are their album would have received little to no promotion, like The Roots and Ghostface Killah.
- Jadakiss sells over $100K in first week sales. Where did he find all the record stores to sell that many copies? And how many copies are sitting in his trunk?
- Lupe Fiasco To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro For Charity. We would rather have him release another album or at least listen to Midnight Marauders before climbing a damned mountain.
- LL Cool J still blaming Def Jam There really is a river called denial. He doesn’t need the money so why does he continue to make horrible music?
- NBA playoffs began this Saturday. Ray Allen didn’t show up, Paul Pierce couldn’t close, and Derrick Rose won the battle of the point guards against Rondo. Oh, and LeBron demolished the Pistons.
- New album releases for next Tuesday: Asher Roth & Rick Ross. The new Rick Ross album is pretty solid. Not completely sold on Asher Roth just yet, but we’ll see how his debut fairs with the public.

hard to say that rondo got “beat” in the battle of the PGs, true Rose had a stellar game, but rondo did not slack by any means. anyways, dope rundown, soooooooo excited for Blu & BT!!!!
You’re absolutely right, Rondo didn’t slack at all. And it pained me to say Rose won, but hey, he did.
