The Jet Age Of Tomorrow – The Journey To The 5th Echelon [LP]

As I mentioned in my first Currently Destroying Andrew’s Eardrums column, the collective of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All ain’t all violence, drugs, and mayhem. Part of the thanks for that goes to the band within that crew known as the Jet Age of Tomorrow. Their combination of sounds equally funky and jazzy leave them floating in a realm filled with contemporaries such as N*E*R*D and the Jaspects. And while a majority of Jet Age’s latest effort — The Journey to the 5th Echelon — is made up of spacey boom-bap with minimalist vocals, members of Odd Future and other cats stop by the spice things up. For one, Tyler, the Creator and Casey Veggies turn out for instant highlight “Welcome Home Son” while Om’Mas Keith, of Sa-Ra, makes a dope appearance on “The Finer Things”.
