While I haven’t been terribly impressed with the work of The Flaming Lips as of late, we all know that their back catalog comes pretty close to classic status. Teaming up with a more “relevant” artist, the psychedelic rockers are collaborating with chillwave-famed Neon Indian to put out a 12″ EP. The colored vinyl run of the EP will be limited (1,000 or so), so I am sure it will be close to impossible to scoop one up with all these hippie/hipsters floating around the internet these days. The first track to materialize is an unexpectedly dark, “Is David Bowie Dying?” It’s nice to see these two artists work out of their comfort zone a bit, merging two sounds into an incredibly raw and focused track.

Embryonic had some cuts but come on, there is no way it’s better than Yoshimi.
As of late? Embryonic was their best album in a solid decade. C’mon, son!
