The Cool Kids – “Swimsuits” F. Mayer Hawthorne

After the release of their wildly successful mixtapes Gone Fishing (2009) and Tacklebox (2010), throwback-rap superstars the Cool Kids are posed to release their debut LP When Fish Ride Bicycles on July 12 via Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound. “Swimsuits” is the first release off the album and it features crisp, airy vocals courtesy of neo-soul guru Mayer Hawthorne. The lo-fi production and stuttering intro quickly builds into a banger, replete with distorted keyboard motifs, groovy sub-bass and tight claps. The track is quintessentially summer and it definitely evokes feel-good pop groups like Blue Hawaii with a hip-hop twist.

Be sure to follow the Cool Kids and Green Label Sound on twitter @coolxkids and @DEW_GLS respectively. Also, for another great collaboration featuring Mayer Hawthorne, check out SebastiAns “Love In Motion” off his debut LP Total.
