Along with the new Roots album, there is another release that has been receiving heavy rotation from me. That release would be the new album from The Books called The Way Out. Although the project won’t be dropping until July 20, we already get to take a stab at a second leak (“Beautiful People” was the first). “A Cold Freezin’ Night” features the chaotic sampling we have come to know and love from The Books, with a rather interesting twist on things. Using a tape recorder, The Books recorded children making adult-like confessions, creating some seriously thought-provoking music. Check it out and be ready to support one of my favorite albums so far in 2010. The Way Out is available July 20 via Temporary Residence.
