Over the past few days, Flying Lotus used his Twitter and newly launched Tumblr account to reveal all the details (guest features and track list) of his new album, You’re Dead!. But it appears that the West Coast artist wasn’t done there. You see, right after sharing all that information, he hopped on the Twitter of his rapper alter-ego, Captain Murphy, and simply tweeted, “Tomorrow!”
Well, that “tomorrow” is today and, sure enough, it’s brought about some new material from the Cap’n. Sort of. You see, he’s the focus of this super-rad and slightly demented new video from the folks at adult swim on the birth of his character. From what we can gather, the deep-voiced and maniacal rapper was created first as an illustration of a young man who couldn’t get Murphy’s image out of his head. Once the guy’s buddies saw the drawings, they began piecing together his backstory that included narratives based in space, barbarian times, and martial arts.
That is, of course, until Captain Murphy himself shows up and, well, I won’t spoil it for you beyond saying that all hell breaks loose. You can watch the clip below.
