The cryptic collective of DJs known as the Avalanches break out from their slumber today and drop an expansive new mixtape on the masses. While the mixtape isn’t outright Avalanches, it appears that the clan has continued their mysterious ways and released it under Henry Chinaski, the name of a Charles Bukowski’s protagonists (thank you, Wikipedia). This comes after they tweeted, “may or may not be mixtape by ♥ ?v?L?NCH∑≤ ♥.” But don’t think that this is a party jam, like many of the DJ mixes we have been hearing as of late. No, this one is more like a nighttime lullaby, filled with mellow jams from across the world. What did you expect after reading the mix title, Sleepy Bedtime Mix For Young Ones? If I had a young one, this would definitely be a bed time soundtrack for the little runt.
The mix features an eclectic mix of artists, including Joanna Newsom, Beach Boys, Free Design, Bobby Darin, and much more. While we may not all be “young ones” any more, I have a strong feeling this is going to be a score for my next day dream. Head over to Pinchy & Friends to stream the mix, and explore the site a bit for more clues for that highly anticipated sophmore record. [via]
