The Alchemist has been spending the past few months working with Oh No on their collaborative Gangrene LP, Vodka & Ayahuasca. While that has been making all sorts of noise, he wants to keep up his solo awareness, as he now makes the announcement that he will be dropping a new album, Rapper’s Best Friend 2. Of course, the original Rapper’s Best Friend, which dropped back in 2007, made quite a nice stir with a ton of neck snapping boom-bap beats. The sequel will also include a bunch of grimy beats Alchemist has been cooking up over recent years. To go along with the album announcement, there is a sweet little contest out there for everyone who is looking for some shine as a rapper. Alchemist is asking MCs to spit over his “Whole Lotta Thug” beat and submit it for a chance to work exclusively with the producer to release a single on Decon. Pretty cool, eh?
