Thallus is a German hip-hop producer with a Greek name whose first album Between Head And Hand generates search results leading to a German film from 1927 called Metropolis. “Here is the life” sounds like something Nas could have rocked over on Hip Hop Is Dead and that’s a compliment just in case you think Nas is stuck in 1999 when it comes to beat-picking.
The producer’s more recent album is called Belong and it shows progression. In addition to the samples there are breakdowns and synth lines, best exemplified on “New Day”. Unfortunately there is no clear link to black and white cinema with this one.
