Tame Impala – “Elephant”

To this day, Tame Impala’s spectacular 2010 debut Innerspeaker has remained in my rotation. Now, that isn’t that long, but let’s face it, albums just don’t hang around that much any more. In remains to be one of the best indie releases in recent memory, and the Australian band is ready to make matters more enticing with their highly anticipated follow up, Lonerism. “Apocalypse Dreams” was the first taste of the new album, which happened to sound quite a bit different from their second single offering. That isn’t to say one isn’t better than the other, as they both stand strong as a prime example of how expansive these young musicians are.

“Elephant” is actually the first official single from Lonerism, as the first sample doesn’t seem to have been approved. It will be released next month with a pair of remixes from  Canyons and Todd Rundgren. Yeah, add that to the list of exciting things these Perth natives will pump out this month. Not to mention PondLonerism is due out Oct. 9.
