Before we bring you our picks for the best albums of the past year, we’ve got a few more lists for y’all. Today, we’re highlighting our favorite remixes of 2012. If you have been paying close attention, you have no doubt noticed that we have shared a TON of remixes, reworks, edits, etc… in the past 12 months.

You can thank a slew of DJs, producers, and rappers for that, as everyone from Kanye West to Ryan Hemsworth to SBTRKT boosted their profiles in the past year by way of the remix. That’s especially true in the case of Hemsworth’s career, which has grown exponentially since we caught on to his straight-up flooring approach to producing. He, along with a few others, appears several times on this list, which means we had to break our rule of one song per artist. But hey, why not, right? Enjoy.

Remember when Young Dro seemed to be on the precipice of blowing up but…just didn’t? Well, that hasn’t stopped guys like FALCONS from listening to dude’s biggest hit, “Shoulder Lean”, and putting their own warped, bubbly take on the track. The resulting remix (of sorts) is certified summer music and you should probably throw this on your upcoming party playlist. Peep ti below.

This album features some of the best songs from Atlanta emcees remixed by some of the best electronic and experimental producers in the game. Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, El-P and Dabrye are just some of the names involved with this project. The fusion breathes new life into these hip-hop tracks.
