Oddisee continues his winning streak with his fourth seasonal EP, Odd Spring. Starting in the summer of 2009, he has brought a killer free project that greatly grasps the vibe and feel of each season. And many times, these EPs act as a means of previewing an upcoming project. For example, Odd Spring features a track called “The Beat is for Finale” that more than likely will feature the Detroit rapper when their collaborative Odds & Ends project drops this year. This free sampling of Oddisee material also hosts features from his Diamond District crew, Muneshine, Kingpin Slim, and Olivier Daysoul. So this winter’s not been treating you too well? Cheer up. Oddisee comes back with his third installment in his Odd Seasons series, this time with Odd Winter. Aimed to fit the mood of the season, this album, full of gorgeous instrumentals and full tracks is just what you need to cure those winter blues. Pardon my lateness, but this album deserves a post. Coming from XO, one third of the esteemed Diamond District, this is something you will want to feast your ears on. Featuring some fantastic production from AB, Oddisee, and Soulful, you already know you have a handful of guaranteed bangers ahead of you. I am really starting to feel spoiled over here with all this wonderful free music coming out of the DMV. Definitely the home of one of the more exciting movements in hip-hop. The homies over at Audible Treats just sent over this cut that introduced the world to Diamond District on Oddisee’s album Foot In The Door. This marked the first time yU, X.O., and Oddisee joined forces on a track and who could have known it would pave the way for one of the best albums we’ve heard in years? If you haven’t heard Diamond District’s In The Ruff yet, I have one question for you: How’s that rock you have been living under? I hope it’s cozy, because otherwise you have no excuse for not hearing this fantastic album. Well, if you somehow missed out on the trio’s stellar LP, here’s your late-pass. Snarkiness aside, the DMV group has decided to release its debut effort in retail stores – both physical and digital – later this month. And to tease you all, here’s one of the album’s finer cuts, “I Mean Business”, as it appears on the final version of In The Ruff.
