As you will see in the forthcoming post for the Ocean State Sampler, I was unable to get some artists on that project due to unfortunate, unforeseen issues. The homie Theo Martins, with whom I share an Alma mater and (kinda) last name, was one of those artists. But hey, it’s likely he’ll end up on the second installment of my Rhody project if I decide to do another. He sent over this excellent cut featuring crooner Jesse Boykins III that will appear on a special project Theo will drop soon. Check out this cut that he says asks listeners and everyone in general to look behind the veil. And, of course, let us know what you think.

Here we have yet another download from Rhode Island-emcee Theo that originally premiered on imeem. Last week, he brought us the upbeat banger “Checkin’ In”. And now we have “Clould 9″, a smooth joint featuring a beat and vocals from Christian Rich. Although vocoder usually ain’t our thing, Rich uses it sparingly. Also, he more than makes up for it with the sparkling beat. The fun-loving, fresh rapper has certainly caught our attention over the months, both with his live performance and leaked tracks. But here’s hoping it leads a full-length or at least some kind of EP, because we could all use some more Theo.

With an Imeem-powered single (“Red Balloon”) coming next week on May 26, Theo decided to tease us a bit by leaking a track produced by $port called “Checkin’ In”. It’s a quick, rapid-firing banger accelerated by a strings sample and heavy bass drum hits. And, as usual, Theo kills it on the mic, with references to everything from Jessica Biel to Nigeria.
