consequence movies on demand 300x300 Download: Consequence Movies On Demand [Mixtape]Thought I would give this nifty collection of joints a post, a little Consequence never hurt anybody. The tape features appearances from Kanye West, Common, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, Rick Ross (BAWSE), Pharoahe Monch, Asher Roth, Diddy, Kid Cudi, Styles P, and more. I don’t really have much excitement for this tape, but Cons last album was nothing short of superb. Give the tape a download and share some thoughts…

Download: Reflection Eternal – “In This World” [mp3]

Reflection Eternal In This World 300x300 Download: Reflection Eternal In This World [mp3]After giving us “Just Begun” in late December, Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek are back with their latest single from the upcoming Revolutions Per Minute LP. “In This World” incorporates a lovely soul sample in the chorus combined with “If skills sold, truth be told/I’d probably be, lyrically Talib Kweli” verse by Jay-Z. You may remember the verse that from the The Black album. The tempo is a lot slower on this joint but still a worthy listen. Revolutions Per Minute is scheduled to be released April 6th.

Top 25 Albums of 2000-2009

photo newyear2010 Top 25 Albums of 2000 2009It’s no secret that hip-hop is in constant motion – it changes year to year. Emerging technologies combined with the fickle needs and wants of the industry, the artists, and the fans, all play a role in shaping our musical world. Some of the changes to the hip-hop scene have been, well, less than desirable (see: the decline of radio rap). However, the past ten years, 2000-2009, still held releases of some of the most creative and unique hip-hop albums of all time, with an ever-expanding range of sub-genres. Traditional hip-hop rooted in the golden age of the ’90s was certainly alive and well, but it was sharing chart space with newer, progressive styles. That said, we have compiled a list of our 25 favorite hip-hop albums from the past ten years, as a form of celebrating the musical diversity in hip-hop from the decade that was.

Reflection Eternal1 300x199 Download: Reflection Eternal Just Begun Feat. Jay Electronica, J. Cole & Mos Def [mp3]After hearing the radio rip on Shade45 with Just Blaze and Jay Electronica, the CDQ has finally surfaced.  The beat sounds like something from the Rawkus era. Jay Electronica and J. Cole really shine on this latest Hi-Tek production.  Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek’s Revolutions Per Minute is due out in February 2010.  Props to Eskay.

Download: Mick Boogie & Terry Urban – Le Da Soul [Mixtape]

Le Da Soul FrontHere’s what looks like an insane (in a good way) tribute to my personal favorite group of all time – De La Soul. Mick Boogie & Terry Urban teamed up with a slew of artists (ranging from Tanya Morgan to Phife Dawg to 6th Sense to Camp Lo to Apple Juice Kid) for this project. I heard a leak the other day for Phife’s  “Peace Porridge” and I can tell you I was interested off that track alone. Download, enjoy, and give thanks to one of the greatest groups to ever do it as well as everyone involved on this mixtape. Hit the jump for the tracklist.
