Mayer Hawthorne 300x200 Download: Mayer Hawthorne Thin Moon [mp3]So glad the good people at Stones Throw finally decided to release this Mayer Hawthorne cover of “Thin Moon”. I heard it a few months ago on Sound Session with DJ Hyphen. They’ve pressed a small number of these on 45 which we’ll be giving away to the first couple hundred people that show up at their March 17th event 45 Live at SXSW (a collaboration with Converse & Wax Poetics). I’ve also included the original song by James Pants which is equally good. Props to Stones Throw

madlib YNQ miles away 300x281 Download: The Last Electro Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble Tones for Larry [mp3]Looks like Madlib is finally going through with that whole Yesterdays New Quintet-off-shoot concept. Here is a leak from the Last Electro Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble’s  Miles Away record that is currently up for sale on the Stones Throw site. “Tones for Larry” is a jazzy groove with a thick low-end that’s got me craving to press the “purchase” button over at ST. Damn it, I’ll probably cave in soon but not yet, though that vinyl looks so fresh. My drooling aside, enjoy this track and buy the record if you’re diggin’ it.

Stones Throw just announced this new 12-part, monthly series known as the Madlib Medicine Show.  The first piece of this puzzle, known as Before The Verdict, will hit the ST store next month and features longtime-collaborator Guilty Simpson. forge your own chainsStones Throw just threw this joint up on Twitter from a brand new compilation called Forge Your Own Chains. You can read more about the compilation here, but from what I read, it sounds pretty damn dope. But all that aside, here’s a new track from Guilty Simpson & Oh No called “My Time to Shine”. But it’s not what you think. First, you have Guilty spittin’ like the monster he is over the original sample. And then, Oh No flips the sample for the second-half of the track. You gotta love it.

koushik out my window Download: Koushik Out My Window [album]Well, well, well. Last week it was his Beep Tape that was put up for free download on Stones Throw. And now, we have another instrumental album from Koushik with the lovely price tag of free.99. This time it’s an instrumental version of his Out My Window record. He has buried the vocals deep into the mix, which he likened to a “ghost in the attic.” Interesting, for sure, and more than worth your time. Even better, there are five or six joints that weren’t even on the album! It’s free for one week only so get it now!

koushik 300x300 Download: Koushik Beep Tape [Album]Chances are you might know Stones Throw-er Koushik for those ridiculously dope remixes he did for the Madvillainy record. Or you know him from his numerous tracks on Stones Throw compilations like B-Ball Zombie War and the Chrome Children volumes. Or you just know him from last year’s solid-as-hell Out My Window album that certainly put him on more people’s radars. Well, for this post, we have a free, 30-track instrumental album from the homie via the Stones Throw website. But here’s the deal: It’s only available for a week. So download, listen, and let us know what you think.
