Aloe Blacc – “Loving You is Killing Me” (Live in Studio)

Aloe Blacc Aloe Blacc Loving You is Killing Me (Live in Studio)I must admit, I’m really loving the way Stones Throw is promoting the upcoming Aloe Blacc album, Good Things. Rather than go the route of most releases these days by offering downloads or leaks, the label is offering live studio footage of Blacc and the Grand Scheme. To me, this adds a personal touch to the music as it’s not just hearing the song and probably forgetting about it. Instead, you are able to watch how the track comes together in the studio, along with how much damn fun it looks to record stuff like this. This time around, Stones Throw is pushing “Loving You is Killing Me”, a track you’d think might be depressing or mellow. Quite the contrary, as Blacc and his band rip through this funky kiss-off anthem. Man, I can’t wait for this album, which drops Sept. 28, by the way.

Hit the skip to view the visuals for “Loving You is Killing Me”.

Stones Throw Podcast 61: DJ Kutmah – Throwing Stones

Kutmah Stones Throw Podcast 61: DJ Kutmah Throwing Stones

It’s been three weeks since I made my last blog post, and to be honest, it’s taking me a while to get back into the loop. Being isolated in Africa without any real internet access for extended periods of time isn’t always the best thing for someone who normally spends about 25 hours a day online. Anyway, here is the latest Stones Throw Podcast, which I am sure most of you are already aware of. While there have already been 60 incredible Podcasts before this, DJ Kutmh’s Throwing Stones seems to be one of my favorites, and that is saying a lot! You can download the mix and check out the fantastic tracklist after the skip, which features new and old goodness from the likes of Samiyam, Dibiase, Blu, Ras G, Alex B, Count Bass D, Flying Lotus, and much more! But regardless of all those awesome artists, what makes this Podcast so interesting is that it is mixed by DJ Kutmah, one of the acclaimed LA DJs who was recently detained and deported back to his native United Kingdom where he was able to craft this 50-minute musical explosion. You can read more about the detaining here.

My Mama Named Me Dudley: An Interview with Declaime

Dudley Perkins My Mama Named Me Dudley: An Interview with Declaime

Somewhere in outer-space, we ran into Declaime flying around on SomeOthaShip. Thankfully, he took a second to slow down and chat it up with Potholes. Never one to bite his tongue, Declaime gave us some of the most interesting answers of any interview. In fact, I’m not entirely sure how well he answered some of the questions, but after reading this if you don’t understand what Declaime is all about, then it is possible you never will. He drops some knowledge about the reasons he makes music and why he chooses to live the life he does. Check it out, get enlightened, and leave us your thoughts. Don’t forget to support his latest project, Fonk.
