BK-One has been, and always will be, one superb DJ. Since the days I used to watch him across the mixing board at Radio K when I was just being trained in on The Beat Box, he has always been this way. Me and him were lip-syncing “Oh No” by Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch and Nate Dogg when he played the 12″ one time. Now, along with up-and-coming beatsmith Benzilla, they have put out Rádio Do Canibal, a project to show the worldwide influences of music when the funk, jazz and samba rhythms and tones of Brazil match up with Hip-Hop across different areas of the United States. I was able to get BK-One to do a track-by-track of Canibal, so without further delay, HERE WE GO!
Mayer Hawthorne releases video for “Maybe So, Maybe No”. A nice breezy summer video for the second single from the forthcoming album A Strange Arrangement dropping September 8th on Stones Throw records. Check out cameos from House Shoes, Rob Dyrdek, and more.
Here’s the latest video from The Grouch & Eligh’s phenomenal album Say G&E. While we were a bit surprised at the, how do you say, hyphy extravaganza known as “!BOOM!”, we can’t deny Amplive’s great production and this video’s nice visuals. Slug’s guest verse is also a nice plus, though when has the rhyming half of Atmosphere ever really let us down? Enjoy the video and, of course, let us know what you think.
Just got home and to my surprise, I receive word that Atmosphere released some more free material! We haven’t really heard much on the development of new music from Slug & Ant, but this is a good sign that along with their rigorous touring schedule, they have been paying dues in the studio as well. Haven’t had a chance to listen yet with all the 4th of July festivities, but I am sure you can expect nothing but the best on this 7-track EP. Check it out, share your thoughts and have a great day…
I am sure many of you will agree with the statement that CunninLynguists is one of the dopest hip-hop groups right now, almost everything they put out is an instant classic. Well guess what folks, I have another CunninLynguists classic for your ears, produced by Kno and featuring Slug of Atmosphere (You already know how dope he is). “Don’t Leave (When Winter Comes)” is the first single off their upcoming release, Strange Journey Volume One, coming soon. This single is also available as a limited edition 7″ vinyl pressing at Bad Taste Records. Props to Tunji!
Oh and guess what, they have a dope video as well for the joint on their website.
