Hey, just because Machinedrum is doing the damn thing on the solo tip–like signing with Ninja Tune for a new full-length–doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his work with Praveen Sharma, aka Braille. Together they form Sepalcure and on April 15, they’ll release the Make You EP featuring five brand-new cuts. That includes the beautifully layered title track, which pulses along without a care amid guitars, vocal samples, and tight percussion. Listen below. [via]

Calling on Machinedrum of Sepalcure, Bondax, Deadboy and more, the leaders of this buzzing counter-genre talk about how they got to where they are, and where they think things are headed. The feature also discusses the role platforms like Soundcloud, blogs, Boiler Room and more have played in the formation of this forward-thinking movement.

There are few people in this world that have a musical taste I can truly trust. After working with him for years now on Potholes, our Art Director Theodore Taylor III has become one of those people. Not only does he have a great taste for music, but his design and art is on another level. Since he puts so much hard work into the site on a regular basis, we thought it would be a good idea to let you all get to know him a little better. Along with a killer mix of tracks that he put together for us today, which features Dego, fLako, Machinedrum, Shigeto, James Blake, and more, this post also showcases some of his finest artwork. Along with the self-designed podcast cover, Theo provided a few snapshots of what he has done in the past, including killer illustrations of Jay Electronica, J Dilla, and more.

Bonobo Mix for Solid Steel Radio

Bonobo’s Black Sands is turning two this year, and it still sounds as crisp and refreshing as it did the first time I heard it. Alas, after all this time, we’re just getting our hands the remix album Black Sands Remixed next month featuring remixes from Machinedrum, Lapalux, and Falty DL. On the promotional tip for that release, here’s an hour long mix from Bonobo including cuts from Four Tet, Teebs, Sepalcure, and Ifan Dafydd that will tide us over until the full project drops.

Just yesterday Machinedrum‘s Bonobo remix hit the internet, and the Brooklyn producer is back at it to liberate his latest track, “DDD”. Also, keep in mind Travis Stewart, the man behind Machinedrum, also works as half of the stunning duo, Sepalcure. But back to “DDD”, which serves as a single from Machinedrum’s upcoming full-length SXLND, which is due out Jan. 17 via Lucky Me.

Sepalcure – “Deep City Insects”

Sepalcure is the duo of Braille and Machinedrum, the latter of the two having already released the fascinating Room(s) album earlier this year, which is what one could assume Burial might sound like if he upped his BPMs to a more footwork leaning style. The heavy presence of chopped, pitched, and completely unrecognizable vocal samples that run through that album are similarly present in this new track “Deep City Insects”. The song is Sepalcure’s contribution to a Frite Nite label compilation due out next week featuring the likes of Salva, Starkey, as well as Distal. Look for Sepalcure’s debut LP on Hotflush in late November.

I feel like Jerry-goddamned-Seinfeld these days with my “what’s the deal with [xxx]” questions when it comes to all the dope music flooding Twitter and our Inbox lately. I mean, damn, it’s looking like 2011 is going to be a hell of a year for music, especially when I hear stuff like this mini-mix of Sepalcure’s forthcoming EP, Fleur. The Brooklyn’s duo blending of sounds on here is intoxicating, to say the least. And I’m wondering if this will be another year where stuff like this — you know, that electronic-driven goodness — will be what we remember most about ’11.
