With the release of Extended Play fast approaching, Statik Selektah unveils the visuals to album cut “21 & Over”. Featuring Sean Price on the first verse and Mac Miller on the second, what we have hear is a slew of punchlines and witty lyric jabs over a traditional sample-driven beat. The video features a bunch of underground hip-hop cameos from the likes of the Alchemist, Evidence, Joey Bada$$, ScHoolboy Q and more.

Mac Miller‘s rebirth of sorts in hip-hop’s underground/weirder circles continues on “21 & Over”, a brand-new collaboration with Sean Price and Statik Selektah. The “Wild Out”-sampling track will land on the producer/DJ’s upcoming album, Extended Play, which is set to drop in June. You might remember that the LP will also feature that killer “Bird’s Eye View” joint with Raekwon, Joey Bada$$, and Black Thought.

Sean Price is a barbarian. No, he’s a bar-barian. Wait, no, the name of a banger off his latest album, Mic Tyson, is named “Bar-Barian”. And in the video, he dresses up like a barbarian, even though there’s a look-alike on the set tearing stuff apart with an axe. Was that confusing? Sorry, it’s good to mix things up every so often and write like an idiot.

For the sixth year in a row, the almighty Rhymesayers Entertainment presents the Soundset Festival in Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn. It takes place Memorial Day weekend, rain or shine, and features quite the hefty lineup of performers. You’ll find everyone on here from legendary DJs to gully underground spitters to more mainstream-leaning favorites. And for his latest trick, Price is leaving his mark across historic events in his new “BBQ Sauce” video directed by Todd Angkasuwan. It also stars Pharoahe Monch, who drops his n-bomb-heavy chorus as P! clowns around like only he can. Seriously, dude is the best.

Stream The Purist’s ‘TR-ill’ EP In Its Entirety

With the leaking of the Danny Brown-assisted single, we were pretty enthused for the release of the Purist’s TR-ill EP. The London producer kept things extra gritty on the EP, employing Danny Brown, Sean Price, Havoc, CAS and Big Twins to spray gutter raps. The Purist’s unique production style is what sticks out here the most, though, as each beat sounds more dark and destructive than the last. The first three songs feature raps, while the second half focus on minimalist instrumentation. Certainly an interesting look into the creative mind of this UK producer, as we anticipate what is on his plate for the rest of 2013. [via]

So, what’s really going on in your new video for “The Genesis of the Omega”, Sean Price? I can see that you’re portraying a lumberjack, ax and all, and that you are carrying a tied-up woman at one point. I can also see that she’s sitting near where you’re chopping up some wood, which to me implies that you might be doing something sinister with her. But wait, maybe not. Maybe you’re keeping her safe and rescued her from the cloaked guys in the forest?

Just in case y’all forgot, I base my list on:

1) Beats selection
2) Lyrics and content that make sense
3) Flows and wordplay and your voice
4) I don’t care how many records you sold and how much your record was played on commercial radio, I live hip hop culture and I respect my pioneers that allowed me to do hip hop as a career
5) Concepts and overall body of making a full LP including the sequence of how your LP flows is so important when I pop it in my sound system

I still judge listening to music on either a boom box or driving in my ride, no iPods and shit. I stick to tradition of how hip hop was played when it made an impact on my life.

As I say every year, if you don’t like my list, fuck it make your own!

One note I will make: I meant to list the Game’s “Jesus Piece” in my list and it was an oversight so I won’t change this list because of my mistake. I still wanted to make a note of it being that I liked his album and I’m still bumpin it in the ride.

Sean Price is really going above and beyond the call of duty to promote his new album, Mic Tyson. In addition to reviewing food festivals and doing his best Nardwuar impression, P! has transformed himself into the Grinch. Thankfully, it’s all animated—I still haven’t seen the Jim Carrey version because, no—and his rhymes are absolutely fucking hilarious. I just wish he didn’t do Rudolph dirty like that.
